NOW what resulted in the application behaving differently when run from command prompt and when run from desktop shortcut. Is it a Xbase++ problem or Windows Os problem.

This is a Windows problem.

If you want to run the app from a command prompt, you need to use the RUNAS command.

One of my applications the document program running under Win7 Profesional 64 bit via the Cmd window functions properly. The same using Win XP and Vista.

Another application regardless of OS, or execution via cmd window or shortcut, does not.
