Roger,
As you know, my small clients do not use ADS, which has never been a real issue on todays networks with 5-15 users. We have a client that has 100+ users that wants to look at the client server. They are still on the last 1.9 alaska version.
Sap says they can download and test direct, so I am not going to resell it.
However, not sure what is required to install it in our app, from a dll side. We did have those dll files back in the old days when all our clients had ADS, but did not purchase that part since then.
Hopefully the ADS code I used then still works, or I am sure you have examples.
Thought you or somebody could tell me what I need. I have 2.0 Alaska, but have not used it anywhere. I am reluctant to install 2.0 and client server at a site at the same time.
How can I tell if I have what is needed?
My 2.0 install has adsdbe and adsutil, which I do not have with my 1.9. it think the adsdbe is what I need, or at least that is what I loaded previously on my app.
Thanks
Fred

ADS Client Server (SAP)
Re: ADS Client Server (SAP)
You need the professional subscription, either 1.9 or 2.0 because it includes the ADSDBE.
You also need to install a free 2-user version of ADS server on your workstation for testing.
You also need to download the free ACE Client DLLs.
These are all available here:

The eXpress train is coming - and it has more cars.

If I have the adsdbe in my 2.0 does then does that indicate that i have the professional version?

And it is generally quite easy to use. I had originally used the ads local server on my workstation but with the free 2 user development version, that is much better and allows you test the exact environment your users will be using.
