Win 10 - Winhlp Express and other hlp files

#1 Post by Cliff Wiernik »

I have the winhlp32 program working properly on my windows 10 machine. However, the Express and Alaska 19 help files appear with the contents and index tab, but not the find tab.

Does anyone know how to get this back. I have tried with older and newer versions of winhlp32.

Cliff

Forget about that old help file. Use the new EXPRESS.CHM (attached).

This has a good search index.

Looks good now. I see the <br> issues are resolved.

I just started using my new win10 machine and knew you were working on the chm version so I needed this for any old hlp files I still use.

Thanks again.

Win10 machine, express.chm dated 1-06-16 opens with topics showing but no documentation in the right pane. How do I make this work?

I don't have an express.chm with that date.

I haven't put it out yet in a release.
It's going out with build 264.

My most current file is:

12/11/2015 02:46 PM 1,458,518 express.chm

I haven't tested it under Win 10. I'll have to set up a computer to do that. I used the Microsoft CHM compiler to create it, so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Make certain you are not trying to run it off of a network location. That does not work unless a registry setting is enabled. I use it under Win10 without troubles. I have the same size and date/time.
