Developer's conference

#1 Post by sdenjupol148 »

I just wanted to say that the southwest xBase developer's conference this year was well worth attending.

With the release of xBase++ 2.0 and the new workbench/debugger, things are looking promising.
The sessions this year were really informative.
Even Roger's xBase for newbies session taught me a few things.

This conference, along with Alaska's support and responsiveness to all our questions already makes me want to sign up for next years conference.

Roger, your new stuff on multi-threading was great.
Not only did I enjoy it, I understood all of it as well.
You did a bang up job as always; thanks!

Thanks, Bobby, but we all know who the real star was.
As I said before, your session would make a good keynote.

It's either that, or we get the yoyo tricks again. :angry-screaming:

BTW - I wonder how the Geeks would respond if we posted our white papers here on the forum.

Thanks guyz... glad to hear it went so well..

Roger, I'm hoping you'll have an express conference this year after you've had a chance to work out some of the 2.0 stuff in real life...

I am definitely going to have one, but Steffen can't join us until 2016.
He wants to bring his wife and daughter to the Grand Canyon.

Also, I can't have one next year because a fall Devcon would conflict with my ship's reunion at the same time in Charleston, SC.

I was thinking about a mini spring devcon next year with a followup in 2016 that I hope will bring eXpress++ users from all around the world. By that time, Xbase++ 2.0 and eXpress++ 2.0 will have a lot more users. I would even like to have additional speakers.
This will give us a lot of time to plan. The FoxPro community should also hit its tipping point around that time and realize that "resistance is futile."

Downtown Boise has really improved and I live within a block of the hotel.
I'll have bikes ready for Greenbelt rides and beer for Octoberfest.

I am thinking that May would be the best month.
Weather is very nice here in May and it will give me more time to prepare.
