Out of Service

My main workstation computer broke today and I may be out of touch for awhile.
I'm trying to find a repair facility.

It's a Dell Mobile Workstation Notebook and I have been through DELL HELL before so I am going to try this time to get it repaired locally.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a new mobile workstation notebook?

Specs:

17 inch
4 g ram
Intel I-7 4 core
500 gb drive
Must drive 2 external monitors.
Windows 7 with XP mode
Microsoft Office

I have had Toshiba, Dell, Sony, Panasonic and HP laptops, I personally like the HPs.

Here is one which other than the Win/7 Home Prem would serve you well at not too great of an expense.

I have read reviews of the HP Envy in the past.
I don't like the part about it getting so hot. That worries me about it's reliability.

I have a simple rule..

Desktop, Dell..

Laptop, Thinkpad

I know thinkpad's aren't "cutting edge", but we've always liked their reliability and service..

We also purchase the higher level service packages..

The Pavilion are home grade versus the Envy line.

Like Brian, I would suggest a maintenance/warranty package to handle replacement for as long as you believe the laptop life is. I look for a service life of 3 years and figure it to be throw away after that time frame.

We always used IBM at the accounting firm because of our work with the unions and were never displeased with the operations, but it was certainly at a greater cost for lesser features.

Old XP Computer is fixed.

Ordered a new Dell to be shipped in 3 weeks.
Will be working full time under Windows 7 soon.

Hopefully, a new computer will stimulate me to want to get back to work.

Got some new ideas for eXpress++ after working with Bobby Drakos and Jack Djuif.
Much improved browsing features are coming.

To late for this computer problem. Here is another vendor that does mostly high end notebooks, SAGER.
I have a older NP9820 that has 6GB of ram three hard drivers, two can be used in a raid. also use I7 Quad core at 3.33GByte
You can look at their list at www.sager.com located in the City of Industry in southern CA.
Computer costs are over $1000 and most are 17in
Lots of high speed video like in gaming systems. They also use a ION battery for about 2Hr run time.

you can do a lot with CustomDraw.
Tom have made a Sample for Express++ how easy to SubClass it.
